Controlling the A/V System

Using the Touch Panel

The touch panel controls all AV functionality in the space

Turning the system on and off

When power on the system, you have two options to choose from. Audio and Video mode, which is when you're utilizing the projector and Audio only mode, when you simply want to utilize the microphones or audio from the computer or the laptop input. The AV system will power on when pressing one of these two choices.

To turn the AV system off, press the "Power Off" button in the upper right hand corner. The system will shut down if cancel is not pressed within 10 seconds.

Source Selection

To change sources, select the input you would like utilize.  You may choose between Podium PC, Laptop, Wireless Presentation, Blu-Ray or the Document Camera.

Volume Control

Volume can be controlled using the volume buttons on the bottom of the touch panel. There's also a mute button on the bottom left hand side of the touch panel.

Projector Controls

The touch panel allows for projector freeze control as well. This option will freeze the currently displayed image on the screen.  Use this feature if you'd like to hold a frame still on the screen or use the podium PC for another activity without displaying it, such as checking your email.

Lighting Controls

There are lighting controls you can choose from depending on the use case. You can lower the lights when watching a movie, or raise them when having a lecture.

Audio Mode

There is an audio mode where you can select between Stereo or Surround Sound. For regular audio use, select stereo. We would select surround sound only in applicable situations, such as watching a movie.

Inputs

Using the Podium PC and Lectern

The computer placed on the podium is the primary source for this AV system.  This computer runs the same image as all other podium computers in general fund classrooms and labs.  You can sign in with your UCCS credentials.

Using a Laptop

The HDMI and VGA cables on the lectern are for use with a laptop.  Connect your device and switch to the laptop input on the touch panel to project. If you connect your device to either of these sources, it'll be displayed on the projection screen.

Using the Document Camera

Selecting the document camera source on the touch panel will route it to the projector.  The document camera on the lectern is powered on by pressing the power button in the top left corner of the base.

On the top of the document camera are controls for zoom and auto focus.

Using the Blu-ray Player

Selecting the Blu-ray source will open the Blu-ray control page. Use this page to turn on the player, open the disc drive, and navigate through the disc menus.

The Blu-ray player is located on the top shelf on the left side of the lectern.

Microphones

There are wireless microphones in the far right vertical drawer. Each microphone can be used simultaneously. There's a lapel as well as a handheld.

Using Wireless Presentation

The AirMedia allows for wireless presentation of any device connected to the UCCS-Wireless network.

To connect to the AirMedia:

  1. Select the AirMedia source on the touch panel
  2. Open a web browser and enter the address listed on the touch panel or in the lower right corner of the screen

Using a Hyflex Classroom

This room is unique in that it utilizes the handheld/lavalier microphone in the space for HyFlex usage instead of microphones in the ceilings. For this space, you want to utilize the Vaddio EasyIP Mixer for the Microphone, but all other settings should remain the same.

Curtain Control

The curtains covering the screen in the room are manually operated. The controls are located behind the left edge of the left curtain.
