LionShare allows you to share files with other people both inside and outside of UCCS. It is a temporary and secure storage system for sharing files and data.

Step 1: Logging Into LionShare

To log into LionShare, open up a web browser and go to https://lionshare.uccs.edu/. Once you are there, please click on "Access LionShare" and enter your UCCS email address and password to sign in.

Step 2: Read and Accept the LionShare Terms of Service

Step 3: Upload Files

Use the highlighted button, or click and drag files onto the page.

Note: exe, vbs, pif, scr, bat, cmd, com, and cpl filetypes are unable to be uploaded to LionShare.

Step 4: Enter the Recipients of the File and Complete the Message Fields

Enter the email addresses of the file's recipients and complete the subject and message fields on the form.

Note: uccs.edu and non-uccs.edu email addresses are allowed.

Step 5: Edit the Sharing Options of the File

Authentication Required: Determines if recipients will need to sign in to LionShare to access the message or URL of the uploaded files.

If authentication is required, an Access Restriction will need to be set.

  • Access Restriction: Who is able to access the message and file?
    • Recipients Only:
      • Only Specified Recipients can access the message and download the files.
      • Forwarding of the email or URL is not allowed to anyone.
      • Recipients will be required to login to access the message and download files.
      • A download receipt will be sent when each user downloads each file with detailed download information.
    • Anyone (Secret Link)
      • Anyone that has the secret, randomized URL can download the files.
      • The email or URL can be forwarded to anyone.
      • Recipients will be required to login to download the files.
      • A download receipt will be sent when each user downloads each file with detailed download information.

If authentication is not required, the access settings will be set as:

  • Anyone that has the secret, randomized URL can download the files.
  • The email or URL can be forwarded to anyone.
  • Login is not required to download the files.
  • A Basic Download Receipt will be sent when the first download by anyone occurs (authentication is required to know who downloaded what).

Message Expiration: Sets the number of times a file can be downloaded before it expires. This is set per-file if multiple files are uploaded.

Private Messages: Sending a Private Message won't send your message in the email to the recipient, it will only be visible to the recipient when they click on the link in the email and authenticates.

  • You can send a Private Message without attachments.
  • You will receive access confirmation when someone has viewed your message.
  • You can't send a private message with the Download Permission that Anyone can download.
