About License Expiration

All MATLAB installations get their license from an on campus license server. Should you receive a message indicating a license checkout failure, it likely has to do with your machine's ability to contact the license server rather than an expired license. Occasionally, the license server may change or get some sort of update that could result in your MATLAB install being unable to correctly check-out a license. Please review the steps below for instructions on updating your license server information.

Replacing Your Network License

Step 1: Navigate to C:\Program Files\MATLAB\<VERSION>\licenses

Step 2: Add the .old extension to any existing network.lic files

Step 3: Download the updated network.lic and place it in the licenses folder

Download: network.lic

Step 4: Open MATLAB and test

The new license file should be automatically picked up by MATLAB. The software should now open normally.
