Method 1: Download with purchased CU Site License

Licensing

SPSS has an additional licensing cost associated with it to use on a personal device:

Use this article only if you've purchased a SPSS license from the CU Site License Office.

Otherwise, UCCS has a SPSS license which is accessible to faculty/staff/students without purchasing a separate license here:

VPN Required

This method requires an active connection to the UCCSVPN both during the download and installation of SPSS as well as any time you use SPSS.  Only use this method if the trial option above does not work for you.

Step 1: Connect to UCCS-Wireless or the VPN

Make sure you are either connected to UCCS-Wireless, or are connected to the VPN.

For assistance setting up the VPN, click VPN Setup.

Step 2: Navigate to http://sitelic.colorado.edu/spss and download the installer.

In a browser, navigate to http://sitelic.colorado.edu/spss

Select either SPSS_Statistics_26.0_mac.dmg, or SPSS_Statistics_26.0_win64.exe, depending on your computer.


If you are prompted to 'Save File' or 'Cancel', select 'Save File'

Step 3: Run the installer

Select the installer file and double click on it.

Click 'Next' to agree to the license agreement


Read through the license agreement and check the box next to 'I accept the terms in the license agreement', then click 'Next'.


Make sure the check box next to 'Yes' is selected, then click 'Next'.


Read through the license agreement and click the box next to 'I accept the terms in the license agreement'.

Then click 'Next'.


Read through the license agreement and click the box next to 'I accept the terms in the license agreement'.

Then click 'Next'.


If you would like to change the install location, click 'Change' and select a new location.

Then click 'Next'.


Click 'Install'.


Make sure the box is checked, then click 'Finish'.

Step 4: Run SPSS

Make sure the box next to 'Concurrent user license' is selected, then click 'Next'.

If the customer is on a Mac and they get a warning message 'You do not have the correct administrator privileges' when attempting to license a SPSS Statistics product on Mac OS, please follow the URL for instructions on how to update the permissions on the directory that SPSS is in: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/getting-warning-message-you-do-not-have-correct-administrator-privileges-when-attempting-license-spss-statistics-product-mac-os


In the box labeled 'License Manager name or Server IP Address:', type in SPSS-LM.

Then click 'Next'


Click 'Finish'.

SPSS is now downloaded to your computer. Make sure you are connected to either UCCS-Wireless or the VPN when you use the software.


Method 2: Using the Remote Access to UCCS Open Lab Computers

All UCCS lab computers have SPSS installed on them.  If you remote into a lab computer you can use SPSS for free.

However, everything should be saved to either your Z drive or your OneDrive.  You may not be able to get back into the same lab computer and they are automatically cleared out weekly.
