As of late November 2024, UCCS OIT has moved the VPN service to the new UCCS Azure VPN. The previous UCCSVPN has been deprecated but will remain active through the transition until Spring 2025.
The UCCSVPN connects your off-campus UCCS computer, personal computer, or mobile device to the UCCS campus network, allowing you to access University resources such as myUCCS Portal, CU-SIS or HCM, and OnBase. Please note it will not connect over on-campus ethernet, UCCS-Wireless, or UCCS-Guest as the VPN is not needed for on-campus connections. You can contact the UCCS OIT Help Desk to confirm the VPN is setup correctly.
The UCCS Azure VPN connects to the on-campus network through Microsoft's Azure cloud computing service. This has the benefit of eliminating most of the bandwidth issues that the original UCCSVPN would run into when lots of people were using it simultaneously.
Microsoft's "Azure VPN Client" app is required to use this version of the VPN, and it will prompt you for MFA every time you connect. The "Azure VPN Client" app will be installed by default on all devices imaged by OIT after Nov. 2024 and automatically pushed out to all UCCS owned Windows devices imaged before then. It can be manually installed on personal devices and Apple devices imaged prior to Nov. 2024 by following the instructions in the "Set up UCCS Azure VPN at Home" article.
If you are having issues with Azure VPN or want to confirm you've set it up correctly, you can contact the Help Desk.
