Please be aware that this update may take up to several hours to install depending on internet connection and age of device. It is recommended to save your work and close all running applications before starting the upgrade. Rebooting your computer before upgrading may also be necessary.
This is documentation on how to upgrade your UCCS managed Windows 10 device to Windows 11. This upgrade must be completed before October 2025 for security compliance purposes.
Local administrator permissions on the device are not required for this upgrade.
Windows Update
All Windows 11 upgrades on UCCS managed devices should be completed through the common Windows Update system.
- To view available updates, navigate to your Start Menu and open Settings:
- Open Update and Security settings:
- You should see the Windows 11, version 24H2 upgrade available as a separate notification here, select Download and Install:
Note: If this upgrade block is not available, first select Check online for updates from Microsoft Update and wait for this to complete.
Windows 11 Compatibility
Windows 11 has new hardware requirements not present for Windows 10. If you still do not see the Windows 11, version 24H2 upgrade block in Windows Update after checking online for updates, your device may not be compatible. Contact the Service Desk for assistance in upgrading your computer.
- Upgrade will begin downloading:
- Once complete, you must restart your computer to install the upgrade. Select Restart now:
- Once your computer restarts, it will be using Windows 11. You will still be able to access your UCCS account normally, and no changes are made to your applications or files stored on the device.
