Note

Joining the eduroam wireless network requires you to meet either one of the two conditions below...

  • You have UCCS Credentials (username including @uccs.edu and your password)
    .... or ....
  • You have an account through your home institution, which is a participating institution with eduroam.

If neither of the above apply to you, please visit the UCCS-Guest information page for information regarding guest wireless access.

Step 1: Opening Network Connections

In the top left corner of the screen, click the Apple logo.  Select System Settings...

Step 2: Select eduroam

On the left menu bar in System settings, select Wi-Fi.  Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned on.  Then select eduroam and click Connect.

Step 3: Entering credentials

Enter your full domain username and password, then click Join.  Do not change the identity settings.  This should stay as None.

Your username must be in the form [email protected]

Step 4: Review security certificate

You should see a screen similar to the following asking you to verify and accept the server's security certificate. The server "cppm.uccs.edu" is the server you are authenticated against.
To be safe you should always validate the certificate you are about to trust.

To validate and see more information about the certificate, click Show Certificate.

Expand the Details by clicking the small triangle, and you should see more details about the certificate as seen below.

Scroll down until you see the Fingerprint section. Your certificate fingerprints should match the fingerprints outlined below:

Wireless Authentication Server Certificate Fingerprints (SHA-256 and SHA-1)

SHA-256:  8F F1 04 94 F1 B0 91 7B 22 40 0B 9E E5 55 DC BD B6 D4 AB FF 90 26 EF 5D DF AB 87 D9 39 AE 68 7A

SHA-1:  D0 EB 48 59 17 02 E1 38 A7 D3 83 DD 67 E7 F6 28 01 2D A1 CD

If the fingerprints do not match, DO NOT trust the certificate! Click CANCEL and contact the OIT Service Desk.

Step 5: Accept the security certificate if the fingerprints match

If your certificate fingerprints match those listed above, you can trust the certificate is valid. Click Continue.

Your computer may then prompt you for your username and password to allow your computer to store the newly trusted certificate.  Enter the credentials for your local computer, not your UCCS credentials.
If prompted, enter your credentials and click Update Settings.

Step 6: Finished - Your device should now be connected to eduroam.
