General information:
The following steps will outline how you can reset the password on an st-account.
You may need to do this because you have terminated a student employee or because the previous owner of the st-account no longer works in your department.
All st-accounts follow the naming convention st-<DEPT>##@uccs.edu (for example, IT account names might be [email protected])
Step 1: Assemble the correct information
If you are a sponsor of the st-account or the department account, you will need:
- Your Employee ID number
- Your month and day of birth
- The exact name of the account
- For instance, to reset the password of [email protected] you would need to know the email address, not the name of the current student who is using it
If you are not a sponsor of the st-account or the department account, you will need:
- Permission from the previous sponsor who owns the account (OIT can help you find the name of the sponsor)
- If this sponsor has left their current position and still works for the university, we will still need permission from them
- If this sponsor has left the university entirely, we will need to speak to the director of the department that the sponsor originally worked for
- If this sponsor was previously a director, please ask to speak with a supervisor
- Your Employee ID number
- Your month and day of birth
- The exact name of the account
- For instance, to reset the password of [email protected] you would need to know the email address, not the name of the current student who is using it
Step 2: Contact the Service Desk
Contact the OIT Service Desk at 719-255-4357 or go to https://oit.uccs.edu/get-help and start a chat with us by clicking on the following button in the red box:
Step 3: A Service Desk employee will reset the password for the account
A Service Desk employee will reset the password for you, and you can give the temporary password to your student employee who intends to take the account over.
