About Linux Remote Desktop

Linux Remote Desktop is used to specifically support the use of Cadance by Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) students.

Software package, called NoMachine, is used to to connect to a Graphical User Interface (GUI) of the LATS Server provided by IT department.

Download NoMachine

Go to NoMachine office website at https://www.nomachine.com/ to download the latest version of NoMachine software.

Install NoMachine Client

Follow steps to install MoMachine onto your computer from NoMachine official installation guide:  https://knowledgebase.nomachine.com/DT02O00124

Setup NoMachine Connection

Step 1: Add New Connection

Step 2: Configure Connection Profile

Give the machine a name you'd like to call, and provide host address as lats.uccs.edu; leave port and protocol as 4000 and NX. Hit Connect button to continue.

Step 3: Type UCCS Credential

Type your UCCS username and password; save password if you choose too, click on Login button.

Do not save any credential on a public computer.

Step 4: Access Connection Profile

Click on the newly created lats.uccs.edu virtual desktop once the authentication process is completed.

Step 5: Select Resolution

Choose the appropriate size/resolution config to fit your monitor specification then click OK button (twice to complete entire set up).

Step 6: Log in Linux Desktop

Type your UCCS password again to log in the Linux desktop environment.

Close NoMachine Connection

Click Down Arrow at the top right corner; select Power Off/Log Out from the dropdown menu; and select Logout to close. Please do not forget this step; it might cause an issue for you to try to log on again.
