When the ClearPass (cppm) server certificate is about to expire it must be renewed. The new certificate will then be installed on the server. This however will change the certificate fingerprints that end users can verify before connecting to either UCCS-Wireless or eduroam.
When the cert is renewed, the next time a user's device connects to either UCCS-Wireless or eduroam, they will likely be asked to accept the new certificate - during which time they should verify the new fingerprints before accepting.
This should occur on most devices, but it will not occur on all due to differences in operation systems (ie... windows vs apple vs android vs chromeOS etc...).
Template for Email Notification of renewed certificate and new fingerprints
Dear UCCS Students, Staff, and Faculty
The UCCS-Wireless and eduroam wireless networks on campus recently had their server certificates renewed. This change may prompt you to accept the new certificate the next time your device connects to our wireless networks.
Anytime you connect to our wireless networks and are asked to accept a certificate, you should verify its fingerprints match the published fingerprints for the certificate.
Our wireless certificates are issued by the COMODO RSA Organization. You can find more information about the specific certificate that you will be prompted with on our certificate information page. You should always verify the certificate you are about to trust is valid.
