Using the System

Turning the system on and off

The AV system will power on when pressing the start page on the touch panel.  This will turn on the displays and switch the panel to the main menu page.

To turn the AV system off, press the red Power Off button in the upper right corner.  You will have 10 seconds to cancel the power off, then the system will shut down.

Source Selection

Source selection is divided into two sections, one for the East wall displays and one for the West wall.  To change inputs, select the input you would like to send to the displays on the wall listed.  You may choose between Wall PC, Overhead Camera, or AirMedia.

On the right side of the main menu you can select the audio source.  This selection will route the audio of the source that is selected for the displays (East or West).

Volume Control

Volume can be controlled using the volume buttons at the bottom of any page on the touch panel.  The raise and lower buttons are on either side of the volume bar and the mute button is located in the lower left corner.

Display Controls

The displays will automatically power on and off with the system.  The source selected on the touch panel will be routed to the displays

Using the Wall PC

The computer mounted on the wall is the primary source for this AV system.  This computer runs the same image as all other podium computers in general fund classrooms and labs.  You can sign in with your UCCS credentials.

The keyboard and mouse are located in a fold-out tray under the computer.  To open the tray, enter the combination 1-1-1-1-1.

The wall mount is height adjustable.  To raise or lower the mount, gently raise or lower it with your hand.

Using the AirMedia

The AirMedia allows for wireless presentation of any device connected to the UCCS-Wireless network.

To connect to the AirMedia:

  1. Select the AirMedia source on the touch panel
  2. Open a web browser and enter the address listed on the touch panel or in the lower right corner of the screen
  3. Follow the instructions on the webpage to download the app to your device
  4. Enter the IP address and code to connect your device and start presenting

Microphone

There are two microphones/inputs installed in this space.  One is located in the ceiling and is used to pick up room audio for use with the Video Teleconference (VTC) functionality.  The other is an input panel at the equipment rack which is primarily for use with assistive listening systems.

For instructions on the VTC system, please refer to the section below.

The microphone input panel allows for two devices to be connected to the system, one for input and one for output.  Both devices must use the XLR connections provided.  Any microphone or audio input device connected to the input port will add audio to the system.  This audio will be heard on the in-room speakers, the VTC system, and the XLR output.  The XLR output port will allow any connected device to receive all audio from a selected source or the XLR input.

VTC Selection

The VTC controls are located in the lower right cover on the touch panel.  These controls allow you to select which source is routed to the VTC system.  The audio for the VTC system will include the selected source and the in-ceiling microphone.  This system is only connected to the wall PC and will show up as a USB webcam named "Vaddio AV Bridge."   This "webcam" will allow you to stream or record class instruction using software on the PC, such as Microsoft Teams or Panopto.  For more information on using VTC system for remote teaching, please refer to these resources provided by the Faculty Resource Center.

Camera Controls

The in-ceiling camera can be controlled using the touch panel.  To access the controls, select the Overhead Camera source on the main menu.  These controls allow you to zoom in and out and change what the camera is fixated on.   The presets may be saved for frequently used camera positioning.
