Controlling the A/V System

Using the Touch Panel

The touch panel in the space handles the majority of the functions used in the space. Please see the picture below and the corresponding colors to the right.

Turning the system on and off

To turn the system on, press anywhere on the touch screen. The system will turn on the projector, the NEC Display, and lower the screen automatically. It will also take 15 seconds for the system to fully power on.

To turn off the system, press the power button outlined in orange in the picture to the left. This will shut off the projector, the display and raise the screen. This will also take 15 seconds for the system to fully shut off.

Source Selection

Since this class has two displays, you have to first select the display you want to change sources on. When clicking the display, you have several choices to choose from. You can use the podium PC, the Laptop HDMI, Laptop VGA, Blu-Ray and the wireless presentation option.

  • Aux Cam and Doc Cam are currently not in use.

Volume Control

As seen in the picture to the left, you are also able to select the source for the audio in the room. Just as you did to display the source, click the picture of the speaker and select the source you want to hear through the sound system.

You can also control the volume using the volume icons on the left and to the right of the audio level bar. To mute the audio, please press the green icon until it turns red. To unmute, press the button again, until green.

Projector Control

The most commonly used projector functions are Pic (or A/V) Mute and Freeze. A/V Mute is on the top left side of the touch panel and Freeze is just below it(outlined in green in the picture to the left).

  • Pic Mute will shutter the projector and mute the audio.  Use this feature when you want to use the whiteboard or front of the room without shutting down the system.  Please only use this feature for up to 20 minutes, otherwise it's best to shut down the system.
  • Freeze will freeze the currently displayed image on the screen.  Use this feature if you'd like to hold a frame still on the screen or use the podium PC for another activity without displaying it, such as checking your email.

There are also up and down projector screen controls that you can utilize below the projector controls mentioned above.

Sources

Using the Podium PC and Lectern

The computer placed on the podium is the primary source for this AV system.  This computer runs the same image as all other podium computers in general fund classrooms and labs.  You can sign in with your UCCS credentials.

Unfortunately, OIT does not support the hardware for the computer in this room, if an issue arises, College of Education is responsible for these computers as well as any peripherals connected to it, such as the Lumens document camera or the wireless mouse and keyboard (shown in the picture above).

Using a Laptop

On the lectern, there are HDMI, VGA w/ audio, and a network cable provided for the user's own device.  Connect your device and change sources using the instructions above.

Blu-Ray Player

This room is also equipped with a Blu-Ray player. To utilize the Blu-ray Player, select the display you'd like it to be shown on and use the touch panel functions to control it.

Wireless Presentation

The AirMedia allows for wireless presentation of any device connected to the UCCS-Wireless network.

To connect to the AirMedia:

  1. Select the AirMedia source on the touch panel
  2. Open a web browser and enter the address listed on the touch panel or in the lower right corner of the screen
  3. Follow the instructions on the webpage to download the app to your device
  4. Enter the IP address and code to connect your device and start presenting

Document Camera

This Lumens Document camera is also available for use. It's connected to the computer through a USB cable, and is being utilized by showing the content off of the podium computer.

Unfortunately, it is not managed by OIT Services. If there's an issue with the document camera, College of Education would need to replace or repair it.

XLR Input/Output

In the space, there are XLR inputs and outputs and are primarily used for assistive listening systems.

The microphone input panel allows for two devices to be connected to the system, one for input and one for output.  Both devices must use the XLR connections provided.  Any microphone or audio input device connected to the input port will add audio to the system.  This audio will be heard on the in-room speakers and the XLR output.  The XLR output port will allow any connected device to receive all audio from a selected source and the XLR input.

Screen Control

The screen in this room is automated and comes down when the system is powered on and goes up when the system is powered off. If you'd like to adjust this yourself, you can use the screen controls to the left of the display or by using the screen controls on the touch panel.
